Confronting and Acting on Entrenched Gender Gaps in Higher Ed Leadership
Despite earning the majority of Ph.D.s for more than a decade, women are underrepresented and underpaid in higher ed leadership positions. These gaps are notably wide at elite universities and are particularly egregious for women of color. In this presentation, we’ll discuss the importance of attending to these gaps, the call to action that the latest data compel, the factors underlying the blocks women encounter in the pipeline to leadership, and what needs to happen to remove these blocks. Discussion among attendees will be encouraged, so bring your comments and stories from the field.

The Mental Health and Well-Being of Higher Ed HR Leaders
Serving as an HR leader for a higher ed institution has always been challenging. Then came the pandemic, and now mounting recruitment and retention challenges. The job of HR leader can be very challenging without anyone to turn to at our institutions for advice, understanding and commiseration. As we continue to support the mental health of our staff, faculty and students, where can we turn for support? We'll explore the importance of taking care of ourselves and have the opportunity to engage with each other regarding ways to manage the stress of very demanding roles and responsibilities.
