DataOnDemand
What Is DataOnDemand?
DataOnDemand (DOD) uses the data collected in CUPA-HR’s signature surveys to provide critical higher ed salary and workforce data to higher ed HR professionals and other campus leaders. It’s an essential tool for making informed decisions about faculty and staff compensation, benefits, flexible work, department size, staffing ratios, and more.
With DOD, you can:
- Benchmark against custom comparison groups you choose based either on institution characteristics (e.g., size, location, classification) or your own pre-determined list.
- Compare your own institution’s data side-by-side with your comparison group data when you participate in CUPA-HR’s signature surveys each year.
- Generate reports covering a wide range of topics, depending on the DOD subscription you purchase. See Using DataOnDemand to explore reports in more detail.

Sample DataOnDemand Reports
All DOD reports provide output via HTML/Webpage or PDF, and many reports can be downloaded in CSV/Excel format. Here are a few sample reports:
- Benchmark one position with a Single Position Report
- Benchmark department size and structure with a Department Size Report
- Benchmark multiple faculty disciplines at once with a Multi-Discipline Report
- Benchmark multiple positions at once with a Multi-Position Report
DataOnDemand Subscription Information
DOD subscriptions run from mid-February to mid-February. During the subscription year, you can generate an unlimited number of reports. Pricing for DOD subscriptions is based on whether your institution participated in the surveys and whether your institution is a member of CUPA-HR. The Data Use Agreement outlines data confidentiality practices and how data can and cannot be used.

Who Can Purchase and Access DataOnDemand Subscriptions?
Only higher ed institutions can purchase DOD subscriptions. Access to purchased subscriptions is usually managed by a designee in your institution’s HR office. If you are in a position outside of HR and wish to access CUPA-HR data, contact your HR department first to see what data they can provide. Learn more.
The Data Behind DataOnDemand
DOD subscriptions provide access to data from CUPA-HR's signature surveys. Our surveys collect salary and demographic data on administrators, faculty, professionals and staff in the higher ed workforce. In addition, we collect non-salary data related to benefits, employee experience, and institutional structure and policies.
Each DOD subscription provides access to data from a single survey. When you subscribe to DOD for one of our surveys, you get access to the latest year of data as well as all prior years of data for that survey. For more information about the data each survey collects, visit the About Our Surveys section of our website.
How Do I Use DataOnDemand?
