Higher Ed Institutions

Institutional Membership

Open to all colleges, universities, departments and system offices in the U.S. and abroad
Most of CUPA-HR’s members are higher ed institutions. Dues for institutional members in the U.S. are calculated in relation to the institution’s budget as defined in the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System’s (IPEDS) report as “Expense by Function.” View the full dues schedule.

International institutional members pay a dues rate of $1,035 per year and receive the same membership benefits as U.S. institutional members.

Institutional members have a membership contact who serves as the main point of contact and is responsible for paying membership dues and reviewing who has membership access. An unlimited number of member employees can sign up to receive access to CUPA-HR’s membership benefits, at no additional charge.

Other Companies and Organizations

Corporate and Affiliate Memberships

For organizations and companies that are not post-secondary institutions

Corporate membership includes consultants, authors, law firms, corporate consortiums and other businesses. Individuals, organizations or groups that wish to gain access to higher education professionals for purposes that include promoting their organizations, products, services or publications are eligible to become corporate members. Dues are $1,300 per year.

Affiliate membership includes K-12 schools, museums and professional associations. Associations or organizations (other than institutions of higher education) that want to join CUPA-HR for the primary purpose of accessing information related to higher education and the HR profession, but do not have the promotional goals that corporate members do, are eligible to become affiliate members. Dues are $420 per year. Affiliate members have a membership contact who serves as the main point of contact and is responsible for paying membership dues and reviewing who has membership access. Affiliate organization members receive the same membership benefits as institutional members.

Individuals

Retiree, Student and Transitional Memberships

Only individuals who are retirees, students or in transition between higher ed positions are eligible for these memberships.

  • Retiree membership is available for $30 per year to persons who have officially retired from full-time employment in higher education and the human resources profession. Retiree membership is not available for retirees employed by an educational institution or any organization or corporation that provides products or services to the HR industry.
  • Student membership is available to any matriculating undergraduate or graduate student, with the following exceptions. The student membership is not available for employees of an educational institution or any organization or corporation that provides products or services to the HR industry. The membership fee for students has been waived.
  • Transitional membership is available for $30 per year to higher ed professionals at CUPA-HR member institutions who are transitioning from one higher ed position to another but want to ensure that they stay connected to all of CUPA-HR’s resources and services. A transitional membership is available for up to one year, ending on June 30. Transitional members may not vote and are not eligible for elected office at the national or regional level. Transitional membership is not available for anyone who is currently employed.
