9:45-11:00 a.m. What Does a Leader Look Like?
Female higher education leaders seem to be under increasing scrutiny lately, and many high-profile women have decided to leave their highly visible roles. What is happening? Are women unprepared to withstand the pressures that come with executive academic roles, or are colleges and universities unprepared to accept a new profile of leadership? This session will explore these questions and offer guidance about how to a) recognize and mitigate the bias that narrows the pipeline to higher ed leadership, b) dispel myths of conventional leadership and support more unconventional approaches, and c) build the more diverse leadership pipelines that have been demonstrated to improve the health of an organization.

The Intersection of Lived and Learned Experiences on Civility in the Workplace
The plethora of unique personal and professional experiences help define and explain an organization's culture. Each generation has a unique experience and understanding of the concept of respect, work ethic and civility. How each of these are defined will influence how individuals recognize and respond to the world around them. As we become more intentional about shared definitions, we are more inclined to actively participate in contributing to a desired organizational culture. This session will explore the impact of five generations as it relates to respect and civility in the workplace; how our experiences influence how we see, receive and respond to the world around us; and how we can ask questions that invite genuine inquiry that results in authentic relationships.
Presenter: Dr. Alonzo Kelly, Strategic Leadership Partner & Executive Coach, Kelly Leadership Group
