CUPA-HR Partners in Justice —
We Will Not Be Silent!

A Virtual Town Hall  |  Monday, June 22  |  3:00-4:30 p.m. EDT

This recording is a CUPA-HR member resource.

The nation is talking about race — specifically the systems in place that perpetuate racial inequalities and injustice, and the heavy toll it has taken on the Black community. As we seek to speak out and champion real change on our campuses and in our communities, it’s imperative that we take time to listen — especially to stories that emphasize how the racial divide exists and the challenges it creates for Black faculty, staff and students on our campuses.

You’re invited to join us for a town hall discussion to hear voices from our higher ed HR community and explore what it means to move beyond existing DEI initiatives to create real systemic and cultural change at our colleges and universities. As higher ed HR, we are uniquely positioned to lead and support that change!

Our panelists will touch on:

  • The importance of meeting people where they are as they experience a wide range of emotions — sadness, guilt, anxiety, fear, anger, frustration — and sometimes feel overwhelmed
  • Stories that emphasize how the divide exists and the challenges it creates on campus for our Black faculty, staff and students
  • The significance of listening to feedback from employees, learning from your mistakes, and responding thoughtfully
  • Understanding what being an ally entails and the role of HR in advocating for change

This conversation is only the beginning. We anticipate many future discussions as we identify specific actions we can take as higher ed HR leaders to support justice and equality at our institutions.
