CUPA-HR’s Annual Conference and Expo Moving to Virtual Format

Due to the continued threat posed by COVID-19, as well as travel restrictions implemented and anticipated at many higher ed institutions, CUPA-HR’s 2020 Annual Conference and Expo is shifting to an entirely virtual format. The new Virtual Annual Conference and Expo will take place October 5-7.

The three-day virtual conference will feature keynote speakers Shaun Harper and Wes Moore, as well as a discussion panel on the challenges, successes and opportunities presented by the return to campus. Concurrent sessions will be presented live, with 24 options from which to choose, plus many pre-recorded sessions.

“We regret that we will not be able to gather face-to-face for our annual conference, but we are very pleased that we are able to bring this timely, impactful content to our higher ed HR community wherever they are,” said Andy Brantley, CUPA-HR president and CEO. “We also hope that this switch to a virtual format creates the opportunity for many to participate who would not have been able to travel to join us in person.”

Those who are registered for the annual conference will receive registration refund information via email from CUPA-HR. These individuals will need to cancel their own hotel and travel reservations. Disney's Coronado Springs Resort will cancel reservations made through the CUPA-HR block. Individuals who booked outside the block of through a third-party provider will need to cancel their own reservations.

CUPA-HR has published an event cancellation FAQ. Please direct additional questions to CUPA-HR at [email protected].

CUPA-HR’s Spring Conferences Cancelled
Due to Growing Threat Posed by COVID-19

Please check back often for updates. Event registrants will be notified directly of any new developments.

CUPA-HR’s 2020 spring conferences in Savannah and Minneapolis have been cancelled due to the growing threat posed by the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. As an alternative, CUPA-HR will host a virtual conference taking place April 20-21. In addition, the preconference DataOnDemand (DOD) Labs will be moved to a digital format, taking place March 30 and April 15.

CUPA-HR has been closely monitoring coronavirus developments and working with our hotel partners to ensure that every precaution is being taken for our 2020 conferences. Our first priority, as always, is the safety and well-being of our attendees, speakers, corporate partners and staff.

However, the coronavirus shows no signs of slowing in the near future, and an increasing number of institutions have decided to restrict travel. Furthermore, it is critically important for our members, many of whom are on the front lines of institutional planning and response, to be on their campuses as developments unfold.

Those who are registered for the spring conference will receive registration refund information via email from CUPA-HR. These individuals will need to cancel their own hotel and travel reservations.

We have published an event cancellation FAQ. Please direct additional questions to [email protected].

CUPA-HR is closely monitoring coronavirus developments. We are also working with our hotel partners to ensure that contingency plans are in place. Our goal — as always — is to offer an outstanding professional development experience, in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning.

At this point, based on information published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CUPA-HR is proceeding with its 2020 conferences as scheduled. However, this situation is constantly evolving. We will continue to monitor developments and let you know if our decisions change.

We encourage conference registrants to familiarize themselves with CUPA-HR’s conference cancellation policies and to consider purchasing trip cancellation or trip interruption insurance ahead of travel.
