In Memoriam 

Peter Martel, a long-time CUPA-HR leader and chair of the board of directors in 2005-06, passed away on December 26, 2021.

In addition to serving on the national board, Peter was active in the Southern New England Chapter, served on the Eastern Region board of directors, and presented at many CUPA-HR conferences over the years. He served with distinction and a wonderful sense of humor.

We will be forever grateful for Peter's many contributions to his colleagues, CUPA-HR and the higher ed HR profession.

On August 14, 2022, a memorial service was held in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. It was a beautiful day and many of Peter's friends, colleagues and family were able to gather to celebrate him. CUPA-HR friends who were able to attend included (l to r): Kelly Jones, David Trainor, Susan Dzierson, Stewart Mixon, Bob Tetreault and Jack Giarusso.
