Methodology
Data for these graphics were collected in the Institutional Basics section of CUPA-HR’s 2025-26 Workforce Surveys. All figures have been rounded to whole numbers and are based on at least 1,025 higher ed institutions that provided necessary FTE or headcount information. Percentages are based on headcounts, and ratios are based on median full-time equivalents (FTEs) where indicated and median headcounts where FTEs are not indicated. “Staff” refers to all employees not reported as faculty.
