Who We Are

CUPA-HR is the national association for human resource professionals at colleges and universities. Our membership includes almost 2,000 organizations and over 34,000 organizational representatives. As employers, colleges and universities face many unique workforce challenges, and our mission is to provide the leadership, resources, learning opportunities and community that enable HR to lead efforts in workforce planning and culture building on campus.

CUPA-HR is made up of a small, close-knit staff. Even though we are a fully remote organization, the atmosphere is one of collaboration and inclusiveness, where differences in thought and experience are embraced and celebrated.

Our Values

  • We believe in community and belonging. We celebrate and support each other, while embracing differences in thought and experience.
  • We are innovative. We actively seek opportunities to innovate and learn, identifying trends and integrating them into our work. We are unafraid to ask questions and challenge assumptions.
  • We promote excellence. We hold ourselves to the highest standards in all that we do.
  • We embrace integrity. We honor our commitments and make decisions in the best interests of our team, our member institutions and higher ed HR professionals.

What We Offer

CUPA-HR offers excellent benefits, some of which include:

  • Flexible work schedules, with a focus on working smarter, not harder
  • Comprehensive and competitive health benefits (medical, dental, vision), with company premium-sharing
  • Generous paid leave policies and holidays (including the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day)
  • 10% company contribution to retirement savings (with mandatory 5% employee contribution)
  • Company-paid life insurance, and much more

Where You Will Work

CUPA-HR is a fully remote organization. While the majority of our team resides in Knoxville, Tennessee, we have team members in many states across the country. We have embraced working flexibly, and our workweek is defined as Monday through Thursday. Team members use Fridays as needed to complete work or projects in order to stay on established timelines or to provide additional flexibility as needed during the week. Employees may also be required to work or travel on Fridays for work. Part of flexible work is in the freedom to step away as needed during the regular workweek while acknowledging we may need to use time on Fridays for work purposes.

We encourage team members to work with their supervisors to identify the right approach to produce the outcomes needed. All team members also take turns serving in a small band of merry makers focused on helping us stay engaged with one another and promoting a culture of belonging and well-being.

CUPA-HR is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, handicap, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. CUPA-HR also complies with all provisions of USERRA relating to reservists’ and veterans’ rights.
