How to Order and Access DataOnDemand

Ordering DataOnDemand (DOD)

Anyone at your institution can purchase a DOD subscription. However, only your institution’s chief HR officer, CUPA-HR membership contact or a designated DOD sub-administrator can authorize DOD access.

1. Purchase DOD. (Currently unavailable)

2. Your institution's chief HR officer, CUPA-HR membership contact and any designated DOD sub-administrators will receive an automatic email notification that a new DOD purchase has been made, with instructions for granting access.

Note: Access to DOD must be assigned with each new subscription purchase.

Granting (and Removing) Access for Employees — NEW PROCESS!

Only your institution’s chief HR officer, CUPA-HR membership contact or a designated DOD sub-administrator can assign DOD access. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your CUPA-HR account. Log in using your own CUPA-HR log-in credentials. (Note: If this is the first time you have logged in since May 1, 2024, you will need to reset your password. Your username is your email address.)
  2. Select Manage DataOnDemand Access from the menu on the left.
  3. If applicable, select the Order Year you want to grant access to and click Filter.
  4. Type in the name of the user you want to grant access to and click Filter.
    • If no one appears, you must first add that person to your membership roster here.
  5. In the row containing their name, hover in the column of the correct subscription until you see a pencil icon appear. Click the pencil icon and then click the check box that appears.
    • “w/ your data” allows this user to view employee  salary and demographic data provided by your institution.
    • “w/o your data” will hide this information from the user.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the list and click the blue Save button.
    • To scroll to see all subscription options: At the very bottom of the employee list, there is a scroll bar that is grayed out. Ignore this bar. Above the grayed out bar is another scroll bar that you can use to view the other subscriptions. This scroll bar appears if you filter a specific name or if you scroll to the bottom of the list. For best functionality, we recommend filtering by person.
  7. To grant access to another user, filter their name at the top as explained above and repeat steps 5 and 6.
  8. To remove a single DataOnDemand subscription from a user, click the pencil icon and uncheck the access box. Click Save.

When you grant access to a DOD subscription, the employee will receive an automatic notification email with instructions for accessing that subscription.

Important Notes and Information About DataOnDemand

Please review the following documents before using DOD:

Understand the comparison group restrictions before creating or editing comparison groups in DOD:

  • Once you use a comparison group, any other comparison groups that you create or edit MUST differ from it by at least three institutions. This restriction applies even if the previously used group has been deleted. This protects the confidentiality of institution data. For more information, see the tutorials for creating and managing comparison groups.

Position descriptions and CIP disciplines covered in our surveys are found in our Survey Participation and Information Templates.
