Jami Painter, Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at the University of Illinois System, to Serve as Chair-Elect on CUPA-HR Board of Directors

Jami Painter, senior associate vice president and chief HR officer at the University of Illinois System, has been selected to serve as chair-elect of the board of directors of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) for the 2022-23 fiscal year. She will then serve as chair of the board during the 2023-24 fiscal year. Her term begins on July 1.

Painter has served as an at-large member of the CUPA-HR national board since 2019 and as a member of CUPA-HR’s Learning and Professional Development Committee where she served as chair for the past year. Prior to serving on the national board, Painter was an at-large member of the CUPA-HR Illinois Chapter board.

“Jami is an outstanding higher education leader,” says CUPA-HR President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Brantley. “The CUPA-HR community is so fortunate that Jami will serve in this critically important national leadership role during this challenging time for colleges and universities and higher education HR leaders.”

For the last 21 years, Painter has served in a human resources role that required leadership for system-wide committee facilitation and workgroups with varying audiences, cultures, priorities and interests. She also brings a wealth of experience from her eight years in HR outside of higher ed and her time serving as chair, vice president and president for several local and state-wide organizations.

Painter shares, “HR leaders have a unique opportunity, now more than ever, to be a catalyst for positive change as we assist our institutions with the transition to a post-pandemic work environment and culture. I am honored to serve in this role for CUPA HR to help provide the resources and expertise for HR leaders as we navigate this change together.”
