CUPA-HR President and CEO to Serve on ACE Board of Directors

Andy Brantley, president and chief executive officer of CUPA-HR, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Council on Education (ACE), beginning in September 2021. He will be the co-chair of the Washington Higher Education Secretariat (WHES) Steering Committee and the Secretariat’s representative on the ACE board.

ACE is a membership organization that mobilizes the higher education community to shape effective public policy and foster innovative, high quality practice. ACE’s president coordinates the WHES, which serves as a forum for CEOs from more than 50 national higher education associations, each of which serves a significant sector or function in postsecondary education.

In his work, Brantley has championed  faculty and staff engagement and the importance of equity, inclusion, and belonging as core drivers of our work as higher education and HR leaders. CUPA-HR has also partnered frequently with ACE and others on public policy issues that affect higher education and  the higher education workforce.

”I am honored to have this opportunity to serve in these Secretariat and ACE board roles,” said Brantley. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to address the tremendous challenges of college and university leaders across the country.”

Brantley has served as president and CEO of CUPA-HR since July 2005. Prior to his appointment at CUPA-HR, he  served as associate vice president and chief human resources officer at the University of Georgia, assistant vice president and director of human resources at Davidson College, and director of human resources at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He began his professional career as a labor relations representative for the Chrysler Corporation. Later this year, he will complete the Executive Ed.D. in Higher Education Management program at the University of Georgia’s Institute of Higher Education.

Brantley will be the first CUPA-HR CEO to serve on the ACE board.
