CUPA-HR Florida Chapter Receives First-Ever National Chapter Excellence Award

The College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) Florida Chapter has been selected to receive CUPA-HR’s first-ever national Chapter Excellence Award. This award recognizes a chapter that is making a significant impact through its commitment to CUPA-HR and to the higher ed HR community. The Florida Chapter was selected from the four regional award recipients and will be recognized at the CUPA-HR Annual Conference.

In 2016, the Florida Chapter re-emerged after being dormant for a few years. Since then, the innovative board has updated the chapter bylaws, enhanced the website, created a new logo, developed policies and procedures, and organized successful conferences and meetings across the state.

In addition to ensuring that proper policies and procedures are in place to ensure excellent operating practices and good financial standing, the Florida Chapter did an exceptional job in creating a leadership pipeline to ensure continuity of programs and services. At-large positions were added to the board to increase the talent pool for leadership positions, and the board provided extra guidance for those who expressed interest in leadership, including providing additional opportunities for leaders to attend the annual Association Leadership Program.

The Florida Chapter leadership has taken an active role in raising awareness about public policy efforts, helping to educate higher ed professionals about proposed state legislation, and voicing the higher ed perspective to state legislators.
