Business officers and HR officers frequently partner to anticipate and address the critically important challenges of our higher ed institutions. This partnership is more important now than ever as COVID-19 is reshaping our daily work and creating even more challenges that must be addressed.
Despite their average ages, many chief business officers (CBOs) and other campus leaders have temporarily delayed retirements to help their institutions through this crisis. Others are beginning to face burnout as the extraordinary pace continues unabated. These conditions will create additional challenges and opportunities during the next 12-24 months as CBOs and other leaders begin to transition from their current positions. What challenges could these transitions create? Will these transitions create the opportunity for more women and people of color to advance to the CBO role?
During this webinar, Sarah Nadel-Hawthorne from the CUPA-HR research team will share the demographics of current CBOs and other campus leaders, as well as the incumbents in the pipeline positions for CBOs. CUPA-HR President and CEO Andy Brantley and NACUBO President Susan Johnston will then engage in a discussion of the data to focus on the challenges, opportunities, and calls to action for business officers and HR professionals, including intentional development of the CBO pipeline.
