An unfortunate reality of hiring is that we often make quick — and incomplete — evaluations of applicants throughout the hiring process, sometimes without realizing we’re doing so. This mistake can happen at any point, from screening applications to the interview to the final evaluation of applicants.

In this complimentary webinar, we’ll explore how bias affects hiring decisions in higher ed. Dr. Mikael Villalobos, associate chief diversity officer at UC Davis, will provide an overview of the language, research and theory behind implicit and explicit bias in the hiring process. Using personal reflection and experiential exercises, along with bias theories and case studies, participants will learn how to recognize and mitigate biases as they strive for a more equitable hiring practice.
