As a result of the growing reliance on non-tenure-track faculty throughout higher education, these faculty members now account for about 70 percent of those providing instruction at non-profit institutions nationwide. In spite of their growing numbers, many institutions have not considered how their current faculty policies and practices (lack of orientation or professional development, non-systematic and last-minute hiring, etc.) and the working conditions of adjuncts might impact student learning, equal employment opportunities and nondiscrimination, talent development and risk management. In this webinar, we’ll review the changing characteristics of today’s faculty and examine specific ways in which campus HR professionals can help support them.
