Data visualization is an important method of communicating insights and stories from data in an easily digestible and understandable format. As a higher ed HR professional, you can use data visualization to support decision-making by leadership and to contribute to strategic discussions and planning. During this hands-on virtual lab, you will learn some of the key principles and practices of data visualization and how to apply those principles using simple tools like Microsoft Excel.

In this lab, we will cover:

  • How to recognize good (and bad) data visualizations
  • How to interpret a data visualization
  • Using shapes, colors, text and layout appropriately
  • Identifying stories and insights in data
  • Preparing data for visualization
  • Creating several different charts using Microsoft Excel

This lab is ideal for individuals who are new to data visualization.
