This session will provide an analysis of the latest legal developments and focus on some of the practical implications for your college or university. We will also discuss how your college or university can be proactive and protect itself from potential liability. This workshop is designed to help you anticipate emerging new trends in California education, labor and employment laws before problems arise. Come prepared to ask questions and share your own experiences! Listen while we review recent, significant cases and statutes.

Alison Neufeld is a partner at Liebert Cassidy Whitmore and has more than 12 years of experience representing management in all aspects of labor, employment and education law. Her experience has encompassed matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, privacy, discipline and due process, First Amendment and other constitutional issues, the Brown Act and the Public Records Act, conflicts of interest, collective bargaining, grievance and interest arbitration and unfair labor practices. Neufeld has an extensive background in litigation, including court and jury trials and appellate proceedings in state and federal courts. She has represented management in administrative proceedings, including before the DFEH, EEOC, OCR, PERB and the NLRB. Neufeld has also represented school districts in certificated and classified layoffs, teacher dismissal proceedings and classified employee discipline and dismissals. She has reviewed and drafted board policies and administrative regulations and is co-author of the firm’s monthly newsletter, Education Matters. Her practice has included developing and presenting management training on such subjects as reasonable accommodation, privacy, medical leave laws and labor negotiations.
