Contingent Faculty Salary Survey

  • This survey collects compensation (pay rate) data for contingent faculty defined as non-salaried, non-tenured/non-tenure track faculty not on full-time contracts of at least nine months. These faculty are typically paid course-by-course on a per credit or contact hour basis and would include part-time, adjuncts, lecturers and other temporary, non-tenure tract faculty (whatever the title) not on full-time contracts. Pay rate per credit or contact hour collected for both credit courses (leading to a degree, diploma, certificate or other formal award) and non-credit courses (typically part of an institution’s continuing and professional education program; many non-credit courses offer continuing education units). Unlike our other surveys, results will only be available to participating institutions.

HR Benchmarking and Workforce Planning Survey

  • Developed at the request of our members, this survey collects data that allows an institution's HR Department to compare its structure, size, responsibilities and performance to that of HR departments at other colleges and universities. As part of the survey, data are also collected about each institution's workforce, including turnover rate, hiring rate, cost of searches and training. Special thanks to our colleagues at Sibson Consulting, a Division of Segal, for sponsoring the survey and helping us develop the survey instrument. Survey results are available through DataOnDemand (DOD) only; pricing is intentionally low to encourage both participation and use as we believe this data will be an important tool in helping HR organizations understand and improve their effectiveness. This survey is completed every other year. Reports published in mid-October.
