Equal Pay Act Toolkit

The Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA) is an amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA) signed into law by President Kennedy in June 1963. The legislation is administered and enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EPA “prohibits sex-based wage discrimination between men and women in the same establishment who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort and responsibility under similar working conditions.”
