Emergence: Chaos to Convergence
CUPA-HR Annual Conference & Expo 2010

Plan to Attend Today!

Emergence in organizational theory is referred to as the complex process whereby the right person or idea emerges exactly at the right moment. Consider hundreds of birds flying off utility lines all at once and as if choreographed, find convergence … a school of fish … stampeding mustangs … at exactly the right moment, they come together and create a unifying energy.

From the driving forces confronting us — the economy, higher education challenges, workforce chaos, work-life pandemonium, universal healthcare, etc. — have emerged fundamental shifts in how we do business and creative solutions for doing more with less.

Plan now to join CUPA-HR for a conference that addresses the challenges we face more and more in our higher ed workplaces.

Need help making your case to attend? Learn a few great techniques.

In New Orleans, a city that exemplifies resilience and renewal, the CUPA-HR conference will offer:

Keynote Presenters

KeynotesHear from the inspiring, Immaculee Ilibagiza, a Rwandan survivor who shares a message of peace, faith and forgiveness; Gary Heil, a renowned advisor on leadership and loyalty; and Dr. Marvalene Hughes, president of New Orleans’ own Dillard University.

Popular Programs

Choose from more than 70 diverse and timely concurrent sessions where you can learn how to make more strategic staffing decisions, find metric measurements that actually matter, and create better employee recruitment and retention programs.

Along with valuable knowledge gained from this selection of concurrent sessions, now that the CUPA-HR Annual Conference and Expo 2010 has been pre-approved by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), you can stretch your development dollar even further with 9.5 credit hours towards your PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification.

You can also earn credit for attending any of our three preconference workshops. Join us on Monday for one of these sessions: Understanding Higher Education (6 credit hours); Designing and Implementing Faculty Civility and Anti-Bullying Policies (3 credit hours); and Becoming and Lean Organization (3 credit hours).

The CHRO Summit, which debuted at the 2009 conference, will again provide a place for chief human resource officers to hear presentations by other leaders in higher ed HR and engage in roundtable discussions.

Networking and Professional Development

No other conference offers so many opportunities to engage in conversation with colleagues from across the country. It’s also an excellent way to earn credit hours toward recertification.

CUPA-HR Cares Service Project

CUPA-HR CaresMonday, September 2010:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Conference attendees are invited to join us before the conference for a service project to benefit schoolchildren in New Orleans! With materials provided by HandsOn New Orleans, we will be painting pre-drawn murals and assembling desks and chairs.

Space is limited, so be sure to sign up when you register for the conference. This project is made possible through the generous support of TIAA-CREF and HigherEdJobs.

Countdown to the Annual Conference & Expo 2010

The use of the “Approved Provider” seal is not an endorsement by the HR Certification Institute of the quality of the program. It means that this program has met the HR Certification Institute’s criteria to be pre-approved for recertification credit.
