Purpose
For more than 40 years, CUPA-HR has been honoring excellence in higher education human resources. Our awards serve to recognize service and commitment to CUPA-HR at all levels of the association and across all member institutions, and to recognize innovation in the profession. Recipients are nominated by their peers, their regions, their chapters or association leadership.
Nominations for the following awards are to be sent to the national office:
- Donald E. Dickason Award
- Kathryn G. Hansen Publication Award
- Distinguished Service Award
- SunGard Higher Education Innovation Awards
Nominations for the following awards are to be sent to the respective region:
- Excellence in Human Resource Practices Award

National Awards Nomination Instructions
Nominations for the 2009 National Higher Education Human Resouce Awards will open in January.
Regional Awards Nomination Instructions
CUPA-HR regions honor their members with a variety of region-based awards, each with their own name and criteria and nomination process. However, CUPA-HR’s Excellence in Human Resource Practices Award is given first on the regional level, with a nominee selected by each regional board and submitted to the national awards committee. The committee then selects an overall winner from the five nominees. Because of that, the Excellence in Human Resource Practices Award criteria is uniform for each region.
